FAQ
Everything you need to know about headshot pricing, styling, session prep, and booking at Nice Headshots in Los Angeles.
Where is your headshot studio located?
We’re based in Downtown Los Angeles, easily accessible from Hollywood, Burbank, and surrounding LA neighborhoods. See it on Google Maps.
How much do headshots cost at Nice Headshots?
Our sessions start at $375 for three looks and +$100 for each additional look. We also offer optional add-ons like on-location sessions, slates, and a premium wardrobe styling service. You can view full pricing and add-on options on our pricing page.
How many headshot looks do I need?
We recommend four looks to build a well-rounded portfolio. Whether you're just starting out or updating your headshots to reflect who you are today, four distinct looks give you versatility and better coverage of your casting range.
Three is the minimum we offer because anything less rarely makes a meaningful impact. More looks = more opportunities to showcase versatility.
Are commercial and theatrical headshots different?
Yes—very different! Commercial headshots are bright, inviting, and brand-friendly. Theatrical headshots are grounded and showcase your ability to portray complex characters.

What’s included in a headshot session?
Every session at Nice Headshots includes:
- Essential Prep Material
- Look Consultation
- Easy-Breezy Shoot
- Online Proof Gallery
Check out the full details of what's included here.
Why is there an on-location fee?
The on-location fee helps cover the time and effort it takes to scout and secure the right spot, plus packing up, traveling, setting up, and making sure everything runs smoothly outside of our studio space. It’s all part of bringing the full Nice experience to the perfect location—wherever that may be.
Do you offer wardrobe support for headshots?
Yes! Every session includes detailed prep material with tips on how to select looks and a look consultation one week before your shoot. We also offer extra support through blog posts like What to Wear for Headshots.
For those who want a more hands-off experience, we offer a premium add-on called Headshot Look Curation. We’ll shop for wardrobe pieces based on your age range, casting goals, and character types—$100 per look with a 3-look minimum.
Is hair and makeup included?
Hair and makeup is not included in the base session rate. However, when you book, we’ll send you a list of trusted hair and makeup artists we recommend—professionals we’ve worked with who deliver camera-ready looks for headshots at a range of price points.
Can I bring my own hair and makeup artist?
Yes, you're welcome to bring your own—but we do want to be honest about our experience.
Some clients have brought artists who were either too glam or editorial for headshots or created a stressful atmosphere in the studio. That’s why we recommend using one of our trusted artists—they understand headshot styling and bring the kind of positive, collaborative energy we value.
If your artist is great with natural looks, knows how to prep for camera, and brings a supportive vibe to the session, they're absolutely welcome!
What are headshot proofs?
Headshot proofs are lightly edited, reduced-sized images from your shoot. These are not final retouched photos—they’re meant for review and selection.
You can use your proofs to:
- Choose which headshots to add to your casting profiles
- Select the images you want retouched
- Share with agents, managers, or coaches for feedback
All proofs are delivered in a private, password protected online gallery that stays live for one year.
How many images will I receive?
The number of headshot proofs you receive depends on how many looks you book. Most clients walk away with 100+ proofs, and those who book additional looks or longer sessions often receive 200 or more. Each session is unique, but we make sure you have a wide range of options to choose from.
Do you photograph business or corporate headshots too?
Absolutely. Whether you’re a creative entrepreneur, a startup founder, or a corporate professional, we offer approachable headshots that align with your work brand. See our portfolio for business professionals here.
How often should I update my headshots?
You should update your headshots every 1 to 3 years, or anytime there’s a significant change to your appearance (new hair, different look, shifting into a new age range).
